From Repentigny to the NFL
From Repentigny to the NFL in Detroit!
It is in Repentigny in the south of Lanaudière that the National Football League (NFL) called to create an activation zone during the last NFL draft held in Detroit. Their request was very specific: to create a Fan Zone in downtown Detroit. The structure had to be in the colors of the Detroit team, the Lions, and resemble their iconic stadium "Ford Field" with its rounded shape and brick walls.
The structure had to not only host a world-renowned event but also embody the spirit and excitement of American football. The end result was nothing short of spectacular. The marquee, custom-designed for the event, rose majestically, offering an impressive and functional space to welcome NFL guests to Detroit.
The activation zone featured several strong elements of the Detroit Lions, with several players, sports celebrities, and fans enjoying the immersive experience.
One might think that an event of this magnitude is planned months or even years in advance. Mistake, we were brought the project in February for an event in April.
Our team's creativity was put to the test, and we overcame every obstacle.
The extremely tight delivery deadlines, severe engineering standards, and last-minute changes from the client. Some technical points about the project:
- Size of 45' wide by 120' long.
- A height at the center of over 25'.
- A hanging capacity of over 27,000lbs for scenic equipment.
- A structure approved by an engineer for winds of 140km/h.
- 3 days of assembly were required.
- 12 very intensive days of manufacturing.
- 700,000 fans attended the event.
Another important aspect of this project was the printing of almost all the structure canvases. Thousands of square feet of canvases were printed and assembled by our teams in our Repentigny factories to create an area in the iconic blue colors of the Detroit Lions.
From the initial design to the final construction, with fast delivery, every step of the process was marked by attention to detail and exemplary professionalism. For us, this project was much more than just a technical achievement. It was an opportunity to demonstrate our ability to meet the most ambitious challenges and exceed our clients' expectations, whatever the circumstances. It was also a proud representation of Quebec's know-how on the international stage, showcasing the region's best talents and expertise.
